Former factory benefits from Steel Window Refurbishment

This former musical instrument factory, dating back to 1819, has now been converted into a number of high-end residential apartments for Belsize Architects.

Frederick House, known better as The Brassworks, is a conversion of a former factory on the Hyde Park Estate into light-filled, loft-style apartments. The project offers spacious and high quality residential accommodation in a prime central London location.

The building was falling into disrepair, and although not listed, is in an important conservation area. With conservation skills alongside experience of designing stylish and contemporary spaces to create a series of attractive and liveable apartments the renovation was able to respect the building’s heritage.

Steel Window Refurbishment is especially useful for steel windows in buildings which are listed or are of special interest, where a sympathetic refurbishment of the existing frames would always give a better end result than attempting a sometimes inappropriate replica replacement. The budget may also be a contributing factor as despite however inclusive a specification of refurbishment is, the cost will nearly always be less than replacement in steel.
